Sadia Noor a Teenager
Sadia Noor was a teenager, living with her family in the beautiful mountains of Bagh, Kashmir. When the 2005 earthquake hit, she became paralyzed from the waist down. She developed pressure ulcers and became depressed as she could not continue her studies because her family could not carry her to the school located on a distant mountain. We enrolled her in SCIPPER and all her medical problems were addressed. She was provided with treatment and psychotherapy locally from Dr. Anam Najam, Farah Butt and from Haida Shaikh in the USA. She was provided with a laptop and local home education, computer training as well as online English classes were started by Dr. Jamila Ashai in Los Angeles. A free SCIPPER straw bale home was built for her and her family. This home is adapted for people with disabilities and located close to a road and a City. Her brother has been hired by SCIPPER as a field coordinator to supplement the family’s income. Sadia is happy and continuing her studies and
she also participates in counseling and motivating other SCIPs.
